A native of Arkansas, Michael Doshier grew up around every incarnation of southern music, ranging from the classic hymns of the gospel choir at church to the punk-rock scene in Little Rock. He performed in church choirs, school musicals, small rock bands, playing the piano and taking in all of the different types of music surrounding him.
At the age of 5, Doshier wrote his first song. But it was at the age of 19, as a new transport to New York City enrolled in the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, with eyes open to a new cultural experience and self-awareness, that he began writing material with an edge under the persona Johnny Darlin.
Johnny Darlin is an electronic rock musician based in Brooklyn, New York. His first EP, Mr. Monogamy, was released in November of 2014. Featuring production by Francis Steakknife and Tommy Cormier, the EP was deemed “super clubby, edgy, and pop-embracive” by celebrated indie blog Homoground and quickly reached #1 on the VTYO EDM chart. He expects to release his next EP later this year with new singles and live shows beginning in September.
